3rd Annual 6x6 Relay Race
Fri-Sat, September 4-5, 2009

6 boats - 6 swimmers per boat

Needed: 36 swimmers, 6 boats with captains, and 12 kayakers!

$1000 cash award to the winning team.

Category A, no wetsuits allowed. Santa Cruz Island to East Beach - approximately 26 miles. Don’t miss this opportunity!

Cost per swimmer: $195. Includes:

  • after swim banquet/awards
  • medal
  • long-sleeve t-shirt

Each team must provide their own boat, captain, kayaks, and paddlers. SBCSA will approve the boats. Skipper must be a well seasoned SB channel pilot. A kayak paddler must accompany the swimmer at all times but may not lead the swimmer.

Goleta Pier to SB Yacht Club 10 miles
Arroyo Burro to SB Yacht Club 3 miles

This swims hugs the coastline all the way.

  • 10-mile starts on the West side of Goleta Beach Pier at 8:30am; 3-mile starts at Arroyo Burro Beach
    at 10:30am. Both races finish in front of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club, West of Stearns Wharf.
  • Swimmers may swim Category A without a wet suit, or Category B with a wet suit.
  • Relay teams up to 4 people allowed.
    • Registration $100 solo; $150 for 2-person team; $180 for 3 person team; $200 for 4 person team.
    Includes t-shirts and brunch at the finish line.
  • Each swimmer/team must have a kayak escort. Escorts may not lead the swimmer.
  • All swimmers who finish the course get a medal.
